Our Mission

The Ponderosa Key Club is one of over 5,782 Key Clubs spread globally (as of 2017). Key Club was founded in 1925, just 10 years after the Kiwanis club was formed. The Kiwanis Club is the parent organization of Key Club and fosters similar clubs such as Circle K (the college service club), Builders Club (the junior high service club), Kiwanis Kids (the elementary school service club), Key Leaders (a service leadership training organization), and Aktion Club (A service club who's members are comprised of disabled members).

Key Club International is divided up into 33 districts all led by their respective elected governors. The Ponderosa Key Club is part of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District. Within each district, there are divisions in which we are D44S (Division 44 South). Click HERE to visit their webpage and to learn more about Key Club.

Key Club strives to allow members to serve their community, build character, and develop leadership.

Our Core Values

Leadership - is grounded in humility and service to others. A true leader listens, recognizes, and empowers.

Character - is built by everyday acts of kindness, integrity and teamwork to grow stronger relationships and communities.

Caring - for others is a cornerstone of the Key Club experience, inspiring action and service to one’s community.

Inclusiveness - welcomes people of all backgrounds and ethnicities to join in serving and making a positive difference in our world.

The Key Club Pledge

“I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.”

Member Rules

To be a member of the Ponderosa Key Club, you will have had to fill out an application HERE and have paid the membership dues. A member is expected to come to all Key Club meetings and unexcused absences are not to be tolerated. We understand that life can get a little busy and if you talk to your class representative, and they determine the absence as excused, then you will not be penalized. However, if you accumulate 3 or more unexcused absences, your club membership will be revoked and hours will be invalidated for the year. We will make sure to issue warnings to those at risk of losing their membership.

This year, our goal to reach is 2,500 service hours. Therefore, we are asking all of our members to complete a total of 20 service hours per year or 10 service hours each semester. If you cannot provide proof of at least 10 hours every semester, your Key Club sash may be put at jeopardy. In comparison, the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) also requires 10 per semester!

Awards and Recognition

Key Club will recognize distinguished members each month based on different aspects of member excellence. Members may partake in a large quantity of service hours, many service events, or even doing a service event that nobody else went to!

Pins, Letters, and Sashes

Pins are awarded for every 50 service hours that are completed.

Letters are awarded for every 200 hours that are completed.

Senior sashes or cords are awarded for 200 service hours.

Sashes: $22.50           Cords: $8.00

Contact your advisor before February 2022 if you want to purchase a cord or sash.

Awards will be given out on April 25, our last meeting.
